EURUSD Fundamental Analysis
EURUSD is the price of one euro in US dollars, so it moves on the gap between two economies and two central banks. The most persistent driver is relative monetary policy: when markets expect the Federal Reserve to hold rates above the European Central Bank for longer, dollar deposits pay more and the pair tends to come under pressure; when the gap is expected to narrow, the euro usually benefits.
Policy expectations themselves follow the data. Inflation readings shape how restrictive each bank needs to be, while growth, retail spending and labour-market figures show whether the economy can bear that policy. Because the euro area reports country releases (Germany, France, Italy) alongside aggregate figures, a week can contain conflicting signals inside the euro side alone.
Positioning matters as a second layer. CFTC futures data shows how speculators are exposed to the euro; crowded positions can amplify or unwind moves even when the macro picture is unchanged.

How StraviaX calculates this
- The headline is the sum of the Macro block only: policy-rate differential, GDP, CPI, retail sales, unemployment and data-surprise momentum, each compared between the euro and the US dollar. Positive favours EUR, negative favours USD.
- Conviction comes from whether the macro, sentiment and seasonality blocks agree, not from one extreme input. COT and retail sentiment shape conviction but are not added into the headline.
- Releases are classified against forecast. A print exactly on forecast is inline. For unemployment rates and jobless or claimant counts, lower than forecast is a beat. PMIs are read against the 50 line and the previous print. Releases without a forecast, and revisions, are not scored. Only the latest vintage of a Prelim/Revised/Final release counts.
- From 30 Sep to 11 Oct 2026, some GDP and retail sales figures in the score were out of date. This was corrected on 11 Oct 2026; the chart marker shows where.
Frequently asked questions
What moves EURUSD fundamentally?
Mainly the expected path of Fed versus ECB policy, which follows inflation, growth and labour-market data in both economies, plus speculative positioning in euro futures.
Is EURUSD bullish or bearish right now?
The current macro direction is shown at the top of the page; conviction is in the app. Both update after every scoring run.
Why does the score history start on 30 September 2026?
Several data-pipeline fixes went live by then. Scores before that date were calculated on flawed inputs, so they are not shown.
Is this a trading signal?
No. It is a macro bias for pair selection and context. It says nothing about entry timing and is not investment advice.
