XAUUSD (Gold) Fundamental Analysis

Gold pays no interest, so its fundamental appeal moves inversely with what investors can earn elsewhere. When US real yields rise, the opportunity cost of holding gold rises and prices tend to struggle; when yields fall, gold usually benefits. The short end of the Treasury curve, which tracks Fed expectations, is the most direct link.

Gold is also priced in dollars. A strengthening US economy and currency make gold more expensive for the rest of the world and tend to weigh on it, while a weakening dollar tends to help.

Speculative positioning in COMEX gold futures shows how heavily money managers are already exposed. Gold has no second economy to compare against, so it is scored with its own model rather than as a currency pair.

How gold is scored

Frequently asked questions

What drives gold prices fundamentally?

US real yields and Fed expectations, the strength of the US dollar and economy, and speculative positioning in gold futures.

Is gold bullish or bearish right now?

The current macro direction is shown at the top of the page; conviction is in the app. Both update after every scoring run.

Why is the gold score on a −6 to +6 scale?

Gold uses three inputs scored −2 to +2 each, so its headline ranges from −6 to +6, unlike the currency pairs.

Why is there no gold price chart?

StraviaX has no free, licence-compatible daily gold price source, so no price is shown rather than an unverified one.
